Did you know that the bible describes you as God's masterpiece? Before you breeze on through this post, let that sit with you for a minute.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10
Merriam-Webster defines a masterpiece as a supreme intellectual or artistic achievement.
Humanity was meant to be the supreme accomplishment of the supreme being. The creator of the universe was at his creative when he made you. Rewind the tape all the way back to the book of Genesis. In our beliefs about the origin of life, nature, and the universe, the only one part of all creation that was said to bear the image of God is humans.
I've got 2 simple observations from this simple verse in Ephesians that should inform the way we live and love as Christ followers.
1: You're a Masterpiece
You should find confidence in who you are, knowing you are God's best work. Confidence means not always seeking the approval of people because you've already received God's approval. Confidence means we can maintain our joy in the midst of sorrow, knowing that loss and defeat are only temporary.
2: They're a Masterpiece
Whoever comes to mind when you read the word "they" is also God's best work. From your greatest friend to your greatest enemy, they're all someone Jesus saw as worthy of his death. Living like they're a masterpiece could mean not participating in office gossip. It could mean reconciling a severed relationship. Have you ever felt moved to do something kind for a stranger> Maybe God wanted to use you to remind someone that they're his masterpiece.
God is proud of the work he's accomplished by creating you. He wants to put you on display. He wants you to feel valued. I hope you feel encouraged today with the reminder that you are God's masterpiece.
This post is a Masterpiece! Killin it N.C.!
